When the operating temperature is below 620 ℃, its allowable stress is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel. At temperatures above 550 ℃, the recommended design allowable stress is about twice that of T9 and 2.25Cr-1Mo steel.

It can be used as steel pipes for high-temperature superheaters and reheaters with wall temperatures ≤ 625 ℃ in subcritical and supercritical boilers, as well as high-temperature headers and steam pipelines with wall temperatures ≤ 600 ℃. It can also be used as nuclear electric heat exchangers and furnace tubes in petroleum cracking units.
